WICHITA, KS – International Wichita FC is excited to announce the appointment of Kent Freund as the club’s new head coach ahead of the upcoming season. Freund brings a wealth of experience as both a coach and player, with a strong track record of success at the collegiate level.

Freund has spent the past four seasons at McPherson College, where he served as an assistant coach for two seasons before being promoted to associate head coach. During his time with the Bulldogs, he has led the team to two national tournament berths and coached four NAIA All-American selections.

Prior to his tenure at McPherson, Freund was a graduate assistant at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., where he played a pivotal role in leading the Wildcats to four consecutive NAIA Tournament appearances.

As a player, Freund was a standout goalkeeper at NCAA Division II Fort Hays State University, leading the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in 2014. He was a four-year letter winner and earned First-Team All-MIAA honors in his senior season. Freund still holds program records at FHSU for most wins, most saves, and most shutouts in both a single season and career.

Freund holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Fort Hays State University and a Master’s degree in Sports Management from Baker University.
